“Electrotyazhmash” began designing of equipment for Rogunskaya HPP in Tajikistan

The first machine shall be supplied in the end of 2011 and the second on in the end of 2012.
In general, 6 units rated 600 MW each shall be built at Rogunskaya HPP. In accordance with the project two first units rated 400MW each will temporary and with their start continued will be construction of a dam. After construction of other four units rated 600 MW each the power of the first two units will be also increased up to this level with the help of modernization of hydrogenerators and hydraulic turbines so that the total power of the power plant reached the project value of 3600 MW.
As the director of “Electrotyazhmash” Vitaliy Cherednik noted the project of construction of Rogunskaya HPP is one of the largest power projects at the territory of the former USSR.
“It is one of the most ambitious power projects and we count that having performed the present contract we will become the reliable partner of Tajikistan in construction of all power units of Rogunskaya HPP”, he declared.
As it was informed the management of the enterprise considers the entry to the market of hydropower of Tajikistan to be strategically important task considering that Tajikistan as per its hydropower resources takes one of the first places in the world and as per potential resources of hydropower resources for one square kilometer of the territory it takes the first place.
According to the data of the Power Ministry of Tajikistan total annual potential resources of hydropower in the republic comprise 527 milliard kW/h while today these resources are used for about 5%. Rogunskaya HPP with set power of 3,600 MW, the construction of which began on river Vahsh in 1978 and commenced after fifteen-years recess in 2007, must become the largest HPP of the Middle Asia. The power plant shall be taken to the project power not later than in 2018.
