Jean-Francois Cirelli elected President of Eurogas

Eurogas today has nearly fifty members from the main gas industrials and associations of the sector. Based in Brussels, the association already spreads beyond the borders of the European Union and will soon extend to the Ukraine, with the entry of Naftogaz.
Acting as the voice of the European gas industry, Eurogas aims to promote the interests of its members, the development of natural gas in Europe and the smooth running of the internal gas market. Experts from Eurogas member organizations come together to develop positions on European policy issues. GDF SUEZ plays an active role in all these Committees.
The priority for Jean-Francois Cirelli is to defend the image of natural gas in response to the green agenda of the European Commission, in order to preserve and reinforce the place of natural gas in the European energy mix. Jean-Francois Cirelli who is convinced of the advantages of gas for European customers thus intends to actively mobilize gas industrials during his presidency at Eurogas. He also wishes to make Eurogas the benchmark of the European gas world by significantly reinforcing relations with European institutions and other professional associations.
Jean-Francois Cirelli has said: “I am convinced that natural gas is going to occupy a key position in the fight against climate change and in the search for an economy with a smaller carbon footprint. But even if each day shows that gas has a future ahead of it, we have to win back the decision-makers; this is one of the tasks of  Eurogas to work on strengthening the image of gas.”
