TNK-BP Supplied 40,900 Tons of Diesel Fuel to Agricultural Producers in the Saratov Region at Privileged Prices for the Spring Sowing Campaign

Concessionary supplies under the agreement of cooperation between TNK-BP and the regional government saved the farmers of the Saratov Region more than 120 million rubles, nearly the same as in all 2009 (the total amount of discounts made for farmers in 2009 was 123.5 million rubles for supply of 114,600 tons of diesel fuel).
The cooperation agreement implies supply of 51,000 tons of concessionary diesel fuel. In June, the period of sowing of late crops (such as millet, buckwheat, silage corn, etc.) and performance of other agricultural works, 10,000 tons more will be supplied to farmers.
“TNK-BP provides substantial aid to farmers by supplying them with diesel fuel at concession prices. This is oilmen’s contribution to implementation of the state agricultural development program. Farms can thus save money and use their funds for purchase of modern equipment and fertilizers, encouragement of workers, and other important purposes. This unique experience, unparalleled in any other neighboring region, is highly appreciated by both farmers and authorities,” said Alexander Igonkin, Minister of Agriculture of the Saratov Region.
“From the very beginning of its activities in the Saratov Region, TNK-BP supplies diesel fuel to agricultural producers at concession prices. This support of the agricultural sector is one of the social commitments of the company under the cooperation agreements signed every year with the Saratov Region Government. Farmers saved more than 120 million rubles in this sowing season, which is comparable with their entire savings of the last year,” said Vladimir Meshkov, Director of OJSC TNK-BP Management Branch “TNK-BP Povolzhye” in the city of Saratov.
