TATNEFT Is Developing a New Resource Saving Program

The time period of the previous comprehensive program "Energy Efficient Economy", adopted in 2000 and aimed at saving energy resources, will expire this year. A large complex of measures to reduce energy consumption was implemented during this period. The amount of more than 1.7 million tons of fuel equivalent, or 19% have been saved.
As a result of implementing complex measures, such as application of hourly electricity consumption planning for a day ahead, introduction of the adjustment measures for choosing an optimal tariff, TATNEFT managed to curb growth the electricity cost increase. In 2009 the actual growth of the electricity tariff rates for TATNEFT amounted to 14.9%, while the forecast growth was 25%.
Today in Russia as a whole the planned reduction of the energy intensity of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2020 amounts to 40% versus the level of 2007 (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 889 of July 04, 2008, "On some measures to improve energy and environmental effectiveness of the Russian economy "). TATNEFT already has experience in this work and has achieved good results in energy saving. Today, the oilmen face the challenge to not only save the energy resource, but also to prevent the growth of energy consumption.
The new program is aimed at rational management of all types of resources: natural, material, labor, energy, which now plays an important role.
The program's objectives are harmonized with the goals of the "State program of energy conservation and energy efficiency for the period up to 2020" and they are aimed at ensuring rational use of resources and implementation of resource saving measures through introduction of the most resource efficient technologies.
