Urals Power Engineering Company takes part in pilot combustion of non-standard coal at Vekhnetagilskaya GRES

It is expected that use of coal from Maikubenskiy field will also improve environmental performance of boilers, since the volume of emissions will decrease and emissions quality will improve due to low ash content.
A team of UralVTI fuel research and combustion laboratory headed by Victor Bogomolov is currently taking part in pilot firing of coal from Maikubenskiy field at two boilers of Vekhnetagilskaya GRES.
The results will be included in a report that will contain recommendations on commercial use of non-standard coal at Vekhnetagilskaya GRES and a procedure for conversion of power plant boilers to alternative fuel. It should be noted that power generating companies have been showing a growing interest in research and pilot firing of non-standard fuel recently.
Search for alternative fuel is induced by the need to enhance energy and cost efficiency and environmental performance and to improve reliability and quality of coal supplies to power plants.
