Beloyar NPP: safety is confirmed by scheduled inspection

The commission comprised specialists from central administration of Concern «Rosenergoatom» and several branches thereof – Balakovo, Kalinin, Kolskaya, Kursk, Leningrad and Smolensk NPPs.
The commission came to the conclusion that Beloyar NPP provides necessary level of safety on all aspects that were inspected, that is why it may continue repairing and operation works at the equipment.
Let us remind that on 8 April of 2010, power unit BN-600 of Beloyar NPP celebrated 30-th anniversary of successful operation. By this time full inspection of the power unit, estimation of resource and further operability of irreplaceable units and structures of the reactor, replacement and modernization of the equipment were carried out. Beloyar NPP obtained license of Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision for continuing of operation of BN-600.
Beloyar NPP is branch of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom» that operates all nuclear power plants of Russia. Beloyar NPP is the first NPP in large nuclear energy sector of the country, and the only one with various types reactors on one site. At Beloyar NPP the only power unit in the world with fast neutron reactor BN-600 of industrial capacity level is operated. Power unit with fast neutron reactor BN-800 is under construction. Fast neutron power units are purposed to increase considerably fuel basis of nuclear energy sector and minimize radioactive waste due to arrangement of closed nuclear and fuel cycle. First power units of Beloyar NPP with reactors on thermal neutrons AMB-100 and AMB-200 exhausted their resource.
